Every parent's quest: the full picture · for custody cases

Be the calm one. With receipts.

When the process is used to wear you down, stay steady. KidKept keeps the people, messages, records and dates of your children's lives in one private place: organized, sourced, and ready for your attorney.

  • Private by default
  • You own your data
  • No ads, no selling, no AI training

Sound familiar?

The process can be built to exhaust you.

Cost, delay and confusion do a lot of damage before anyone looks at the facts. You can't control the other side. You can control your record.

Outspent

The other side can afford more hours, more motions and more experts. Every hour your attorney spends sorting paper is an hour you pay for.

Delayed

Continuances, missed deadlines and slow answers stretch a case for months. Details fade, and the story gets harder to tell.

Buried in paperwork

Texts, emails, school portals, doctor notes, receipts and orders scattered across phones, inboxes and shoeboxes.

He-said-she-said

Without a dated, sourced record, it comes down to whose version sounds better that day. Your kids deserve better than that.

How it works

Three steps from scattered to organized.

  1. 01

    Name your people

Add your children with their ages, the co-parent, step-family, doctors, therapists, teachers, schools, attorneys, the GAL and evaluators. Tag them in anything.

  2. 02

    Drop in everything

PDFs, Word docs, emails, text exports, photos, audio and video. Each original is fingerprinted, dated and tagged with the people in it.

  3. 03

See the patterns, share the brief

Timelines, compliance rates, care delays and message patterns, all traced to sources. Export a brief or share a scoped packet with your attorney.

What's inside

Everything a custody record needs. Nothing it doesn't.

Built around the questions attorneys, GALs and evaluators actually ask: what happened, when, who was there, and how do you know.

Explore the demo case

People and tags

Everyone in your children's lives in one place, with roles, contact details and every entry they appear in.

Journal and timeline

Quick, dated notes as things happen. A clean timeline that reads the way attorneys and judges think.

Evidence Vault

PDFs, docs, emails, texts, images, audio and video. SHA-256 fingerprint of each original, dates and people detected automatically.

Message patterns

Volume, follow-up bursts, reply times, tone and courtesy markers, measured with published word lists you can inspect.

Exchange log

Log each possession exchange as on time, late or missed. Compliance rates build themselves.

Care tracker

Recommended care against completed care: days of delay, follow-ups kept and missed, and who was told when.

Money ledger

Support paid, expense requests and reimbursements, with receipts attached and balances that add up.

Lifecycle and Gap Finder

Know what to keep at each stage, what you can request yourself, and which records are still missing.

Secure sharing

Scoped, expiring, passphrase-encrypted packets for your attorney, GAL or evaluator, with sign-offs on both ends.

What the brief looks like

One click. Every claim traced to its source.

Modeled on a professional arbitration brief. Print it to PDF for your attorney or mediator. Every figure is footnoted to a document, message or log entry, with a fingerprint of the original.

  • Headline figures on one page
  • A dated timeline of key events
  • Participation: school, medical and activities
  • Care delays and follow-through
  • Clinician and provider register
  • Message analysis with method notes
  • Financials: support, requests and reimbursements
  • Sources and method, with file fingerprints

Case lifecycle guide

Know where you are. Know what comes next.

Most parents don't have a big record until discovery. KidKept meets you at your stage: what to keep now, what you can request yourself, and what usually only arrives through discovery.

Read the full guide
  1. Stage 01Before anything is filedTypically weeks to years
  2. Stage 02A case is filedTypically days to weeks
  3. Stage 03Temporary ordersTypically 2–8 weeks after filing
  4. Stage 04DiscoveryTypically 2–6 months
  5. Stage 05Evaluations & GALTypically 2–6 months
  6. Stage 06MediationTypically 1–2 days
  7. Stage 07Final hearing, trial or arbitrationTypically 1–5 days
  8. Stage 08After the orderTypically ongoing

Gap Finder looks at what's in your file and suggests the records that would answer open questions, the way an experienced paralegal would.

Privacy and ownership

It's your family's story. It stays yours.

You decide what gets shared, with whom, and for how long. Shares need your sign-off and the recipient's promise of confidentiality.

How we protect your record

You own it

Your record belongs to you. Export everything or delete everything, any time.

Local-first

In the prototype, your data lives in your own browser. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to.

No ads. No selling.

We never sell your data or use it for advertising. Not now, not in the fine print.

No training

Your record is never used to train AI models. AI analysis is opt-in, file by file.

A note from the founders

Built by a dad who's living it.

I know what it's like to sit across from a bigger legal budget and wonder whether the facts will ever get a fair look. To wait months for a hearing that gets moved again. To keep screenshots in one place, receipts in another, and the whole story in your head.

Getting angry doesn't help the kids. Being organized does. We built KidKept so parents can stay steady, keep an honest record, and walk into every meeting with their attorney knowing exactly what happened and where the proof is.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Something else on your mind? Read the security overview or the lifecycle guide.

Is KidKept legal advice?
No. KidKept is not a law firm and doesn't provide legal advice. It helps you organize information you already have so your attorney, or you, can work from facts. For advice about your case, talk with a licensed attorney in your state.
Where is my data stored?
In this prototype, everything stays in your own browser on your own device. We can't see it and can't recover it, so export a backup regularly. Encrypted cloud sync is on the roadmap and will be opt-in.
Will this help me win?
No tool can promise an outcome, and we won't. What a clear, sourced record does is make your facts easier to find, check and understand, and it can cut the hours your attorney spends reconstructing history.
Is it just for dads?
It was built with fathers who feel outspent or run around by the process, and a co-founder who is going through it. But it works the same for any parent. The language is neutral on purpose: the record is about the children.
What kinds of files can I add?
PDFs, Word documents, emails, text-message and CSV exports from co-parenting apps, photos and screenshots, audio (transcribed) and video (described and transcribed). Each original is kept and fingerprinted with SHA-256.
How does the AI part work?
It's off until you turn it on. When you do, you choose which files to analyze. AI helps with transcripts, summaries, dates and tagging; every result links back to the original so you can check it.
Can I record calls or conversations?
KidKept doesn't record anything for you. Recording-consent laws differ by state, so check yours (or ask your attorney) before recording, and only upload material you're legally allowed to have.
How do I share with my attorney or the GAL?
Create a share packet: pick exactly what's included, set an expiry and a passphrase, and sign off that it's accurate. The recipient accepts confidentiality before opening it, and every page is watermarked.

Strike out steady.

Honor, patience, and receipts. Facts over noise. Open the demo case to see a full file in two minutes, or start your own. It stays in your browser until you decide otherwise.
